Automaker recalls dangerous driver side floor mats
Automaker Toyota and its luxury brand, Lexus, have recalled 3.8million vehicles due to a problem with the driver-side floor mats. In a statement put out by Toyota it is currently searching for a solution to the problem, but in the meantime will recall millions of vehicles due to a problem that could cause the defective floor mat to get caught on the accelerator, thereby causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
At the present time, and with only a limited initial understanding of the problem, the automaker has warned owners to not merely replace the defective mats, but to take them out of the car altogether. This recall is presently thought to be the largest ever in the United States, and affects several of Toyota's best selling cars including, Toyota Camry, Prius, Avalon, Tacoma, Tundra and several late model Lexus vehicles.
The Camry is built in Georgetown, Ky. as well as several other locations throughout the nation.
