Driver, charged with DUI, causes three car accident in Glasgow, Kentucky

Earlier this week, Jason Smith, age 34, was charged with a DUI, first degree wanton endangerment, and driving on a suspended license, after the pickup truck he was driving rear ended one vehicle and causing another vehicle to be struck. Annie Minor, age 29, the driver of the third vehicle involved in the accident, was pregnant at the time of the collision. She was taken from the scene of the wreck to the T.J. Samson Community Hospital and later released from Obstetrics.

The victims of this accident were lucky, as only minor injuries were sustained. The injuries could have been a lot worse. Clearly, Mr. Smith should never have been driving as he was both under the influence and was driving while his license was suspended.

Auto accident attorney, Brent T. Ackerson, of the law firm of Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones, says: “The repetitive behavior of drunk drivers is a growing problem. The laws and penalties dealing with repeat DUIs needs to be strengthened to attempt to put a stop to this dangerous and deadly behavior.”

Victims of drunk driving accidents have both criminal and civil legal rights. Victims of drunk driving should seek legal counsel to understand fully what their rights are. By enforcing rights, both criminally and civilly, victims can punish the offenders and send a message to others in the community that such actions have severe consequences.
