Bowling Green, Kentucky Car Accident Results in Serious Injuries

There was a serious accident on KY 185 in Bowling Green (Warren County) Kentucky over the weekend that injured 5 people. At least two of the injury victims were severely injured in this near head-on collision.

According to a report by state police in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Kent Koostra was traveling northbound on KY 185 approaching a car driven by Jonathan Schmidt . Mr. Schmidt's car crossed the center line causing Mr. Koostra's auto to collide with the right side passenger compartment of Mr. Schmidt's vehicle.

At least two occupants of Mr. Koostra's auto were life-flighted to the University of Louisville Hospital via Air Evac for treatment for severe injuries, according to reports. The other occupeants were admitted to The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky with what are being called non-life threatening injuries.

Commentary by Shawn Cantley, a Kentucky lawyer who represents victims of auto accidents:

Head-on collisions are the most violent and dangerous of all car accidents. And they are entirely preventable. A car should never cross into oncoming traffic. What is scary is that if a car is coming at you at 50 miles per hour and you are traveling 50 miles per hour also, it's very difficult, and sometimes physically impossible, to react in time to avoid a head-on collision. In this case, it sounds like the drivers were at least able to avoid striking each other directly head-on, which would have almost certainly resulted in fatalities.
