To recap the story, two motorcyclists were involved in a head-on collision near Morehead, Kentucky, after the driver of a car lost control of his vehicle.
The three-vehicle accident occurred at 3:42 p.m. Kentucky State Police said Brian Robinette, 29, of Wellington was westbound on KY 1274 in a 1994 Chevy Camaro when he allegedly lost control and overcorrected. Robinette’s breaks locked up causing the vehicle to skid into the eastbound lane striking head-on William Walker, 62, operating a 2008 BMW motorcycle and Bruce R. Miller, 64, driving a 1998 Ducati motorcycle, according to police.
Mr. Walker and Mr. Miller were both stat-flighted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Mr. Miller died on Friday evening from injuries he sustained in the wreck and Mr. Walker died on Saturday, according to a report by KSP.
Two passengers in the Robinette vehicle, whose names were not released, were transported by Morehead-Rowan EMS to St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
Another motorcycle accident occurred on KY 1274 about two hours after the fatality, when a man who approached the three-car collision turned around and traveled toward Cave Run Lake. He also was airlifted to UK. His name, condition and cause of the accident were not known at press time.
The cause of the accidents remain under investigation by KSP. According to Shawn Cantley, a Kentucky attorney who handles cases involving motorcyclist who are injured or killed in collisions, "motorcyclists are extremely vulnerable on the roadway, and it's imperative that people drive with this in mind."
