Clay City, Kentucky Accident Clams Life

A crash involving a moped and a Chevrolet Tahoe resulted in the death of a man from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and injury to a 12 year-old child. The boy's injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening. It happened on August 15, 2009 when the driver of the moped, who was not wearing a helmet, ran a stop sign. Condolences and sympathies are expressed to the family of the deceased, and hopefully, the boy makes a full recovery and is back to his normal life in a short amount of time.

Louisville, Kentucky car accident attorney Will Nefzger of Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones said that interestly, riders and passengers of mopeds are considered pedestrians under Kentucky's Motor Vehicle Reparations Act, which can have far reaching implications for those injured while driving or riding on one. From experience in respresenting riders and passengers of mopeds and motorcycles injured in these types of accidents, Nefzger said this tragic scenario is unfortunate and all too common. The lack of protection like that afforded by a car makes the likelihood of escaping serioius injury or death in an accident while driving or riding on a moped or motorcylce much more likely. Extra precaution must be taken by both those driving the moped or motorcycle and other motorists to avoid these sad circumstances.
