Tragic SUV Rollover Accident near Cherokee Park in Louisville, KY

Seven young people were injured, one fatally, in a tragic rollover car accident on a winding section of Cherokee Road in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday night. According to reports, the injured, including the young lady who died in the wreck, were all teenagers.

According to Louisville Metro Police, speed was believed to be a factor in causing the accident. Reportedly, the youngster who died was ejected from the vehicle, a Ford Explorer.

The injured were transported to Kosair Children's Hospital. While their condition was not reported, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Louisville Metro Police said that it appears as if the driver lost control of the SUV and it rolled over several times. According to witnesses, the SUV was traveling above the posted speed limit.

"It has surprised me just how many SUV rollover wrecks I have seen over the past seven or so years," said Shawn Cantley, a Louisville Kentucky injury lawyer who handles a lot of car accident and product liability cases. "Many of these SUV's are top heavy and do not have electronic stability control. Unfortunately, certain models of the Ford Explorer are notorious among injury attorneys for the ease with which they can rollover. We tend to feel safer in SUV's, because they're big. But rollover accidents are extremely dangerous, as this very sad wreck shows."
