Indiana Woman Killed by Ambulance
An Indiana woman was killed today when an ambulance crashed into her car on Lewis and Clark Parkway Saturday afternoon near the Green Tree Mall in Clarksville, Ind.
The victim was identified as Opal A. Couch of Jeffersonville.
She was driving a Lincoln Town Car which collided shortly after 2 p.m. with a Clark County ambulance, which was en route to a call, according to state and local police.
Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones car accident and wrongful death attorney Larry Jones says, "It is unclear who is at-fault for this wreck, but it is important to remember to clear the road for EMS workers. Unfortunately, however, ambulance drivers sometimes fail to properly lookout for other drivers and the result can be fatal."
Larry Jones also says, "In cases in which someone has been killed in an auto accident, it is imperative that an accident reconstruction team (hired by the lawyer for the family) is dispatched to the scene for purposes of reconstructing the accident."
UPDATE: According to WHAS 11, it appears that the ambulance was responding to a call of someone unresponsive, when it passed through an intersection where a car pulled in front of it; the ambulance hit the driver’s side of the car.
