Car Accident: Four from Midway, Kentucky Die in Georgia Crash on I-75

A car accident has killed a family of four from Midway, Kentucky while they were on I-75 in Valdosta, Georgia. The Louisville, Courier Journal reports that some sort of a highway dispute might have led to a fiery, three-vehicle collision that killed four Kentucky residents on Interstate 75 in Georgia.

The driver of a black Honda was reporting to 911 that a silver Saturn was attempting to block him when both vehicles were struck by a rental truck about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, the Georgia State Patrol said. The cars were nearly stopped in the middle and right southbound lanes when the rental truck struck them.

Jerome Roberts, 40, Cheryl Collins, 41, Mahronda Collins, 20, and August Roberts, 10, all of Midway, Ky., were killed. Occupants of the truck and other car escaped serious injury.

Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones car accident and wrongful death attorney Larry Jones says, "The facts as reported are very bizarre. It is unclear why the drivers were stopped in the middle of the road. However, one thing is certain: somebody is responsible for the deaths of this family."

What many people fail to realize is that passengers in a vehicle are almost never "at-fault" for the injuries that they receive in a car accident. The "fault" lies with the driver of one of the vehicles (either the vehicle in which the passenger was riding or the other vehicle's driver). Nevertheless, insurance companies and their lawyers many times delay settlement by pointing the finger at the other driver to delay the settlement of passenger claims.
