Whitley County Teen Accidentally Shot By Friend

A teenager in Whitley County was accidentally shot by a teen friend late this morning. The boy is fighting for his life in a Tennessee hospital.

The incident happened just before noon at a home on Concord Church Road in Whitley County. Officials say the 15-year-old who pulled the trigger was staying with his 14-year-old friend and say the two got hold of a .357 Magnum that belongs to the victim's father. Police say the gun accidentally went off and hit the 14-year-old in the abdomen.

Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones personal injury attorney Larry Jones says, "Unfortunately, this scenario will forever alter the lives of the victim, the accidental shooter, and the gun owner. This tragic incident should serve as a reminder to all of us that guns should be locked up and kept away from children."
