Teacher Accused of Sexual Abuse at Bourbon County, Kentucky (Paris) High School
The Lexington Herald Leader is reporting that a long time Bourbon County High School teacher has been accused of sexually abusing a male student.
Kimberly Fryman, a teacher at Bourbon County High School, was indicted June 11 on a charge of first-degree sexual abuse. She pleaded not guilty Tuesday when she was arraigned in Bourbon Circuit Court.
The indictment says Fryman subjected a boy to sexual contact when he was younger than 18 years of age and she was in a position of authority or special trust.
Fryman has taught elementary and middle school grades but was a teacher in an alternative classroom for troubled students at the time of the allegation, said Bourbon County Superintendent Lana Fryman, who is no relation to Kimberly Fryman.
Lana Fryman said the boy was a student in Kimberly Fryman's class.
Kimberly Fryman had taught in the alternative program for five years. She has been on paid suspension since the allegation was reported in November, Lana Fryman said.
A status hearing is scheduled for Aug. 7 in Bourbon Circuit Court.
Bahe Cook Cantley & jones personal injury attorney Larry Jones, who is experienced with representing victims of sexual molestation and sexual abuse and who is a member of the National Crime Victims Bar Association, says "Teachers who sexually abuse children rob these children of their childhood and set them on a destructive path for the rest of their lives. Teachers who abuse should not be allowed back in the classroom. And if the school district knew or should have known that this was occurring, then the school board should be held accountable for the sexual abuse by one of its teachers."
