Pulaski Kentucky Driver Charged with Murder of Mount Vernon Woman
Police have charged a Somerset, Kentucky man with murder after he killed a Mount Vernon woman in an auto accident on Sunday. The driver was also charged with driving without insurance and without a license.
Sheila R. Lovell, 38, died at the scene of the Sunday afternoon wreck, 12 miles north of Somerset on Ky. 39, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
Jose Santiyo Cuevas, 26, was charged with murder, impaired driving and having no license or insurance.
Police said Cuevas was driving south in a 1997 Ford pickup when he lost control and crossed into the other lane, hitting Lovell's approaching car.
Bahe Cook Cantley & Jones personal injury and wrongful death attorney Larry Jones says, "While it is unclear why the police charged the driver with murder, it appears as though the driver was under the influence. Drunken drivers should be held strictly accountable for their actions. Additionally, it adds insult to injury when the drunken driver carries no or little insurance to compensate the surviving family members. While some motorists carry uninsured or underinsured insurance coverage, the vast majority of Kentucky citizens do not carry it --or they carry too little."
