Louisville, Ky. Worker Injured in Explosion at Plant

An employee at Nuplex Resins was injured in a fire/explosion today as the employee was using solvents to clean a metal kettle used to make resins.

Some vapors from the cleaning agent escaped the kettle and ignited, causing second- and third-degree burns on 20 percent of the employee’s body, said Maj. Carroll Haueter of Louisville Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters were notified shortly after noon and had the fire under control just after 1 p.m., he said.
