Louisville Kentucky Car Wreck Injures 6 Children
A Car Accident in Louisville, Kentucky over the weekend has resulted in the injury of six children. The children were taken to Louisville, Kentucky hospitals.
The wreck occurred when a Ford Explorer rolled over on the Watterson Expressway (I-264) at the Bank Street Exit. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, the driver, who was not identified, lost control of the sport utility vehicle for unknown reasons at about 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Reportedly, there were a total of seven people injured in the car wreck. Five of the victims, between the ages 11 and 14, were taken to Kosair Children's Hospital with injuries that the Courier-Journal is reporting were not life-threatening. Additionally, two occupants were taken to University Hospital, and according to police a 16 year old taken to UofL had suffered critical injuries.
The cause was still under investigation. Police said alcohol did not appear to be involved. A poster on the C-J website commented that a motorcycle may have made a feint stop for no reason in front of the SUV, causing it to swerve and flip. The poster did not mention the source of this statement, however.
According to Louisville Kentucky Car Accident Lawyer Shawn Cantley, "if it's accurate that another driver pulled a fake stop out of the blue in front of the SUV, that person should be ashamed and should come forward and accept responsibility for this terrible wreck. They would obviously be at fault for the accident." "However, insurance companies have been very successful in Kentucky avoiding responsibility when there is an 'unknown driver' involved," said Shawn Cantley, who is experienced representing injury victims in car accident cases with difficult insurance issues.
