Louisville Courier Journal: Brain Injury is the #1 Cause of Death and Disability Among Children and Young Adults
The University of Kentucky Hospital has agreed to serve as the "lead center" for developing a statewide ,aster plan to deal with brain injuries.
Pediatric acquired brain injury can occur from birth to age 25, since the pediatric brain doesn't finish developing until that time. Traumatic causes include motor vehicle accidents, falls, blast injuries from war, assaults/child abuse, sports concussions, gunshot wounds or being struck by an object.
